Position: Ruby on Rails Developer PrepChamps, Inc. is seeking a Ruby on Rails web developer to compliment its development team and contribute features to its signature online presence, the PrepChamps.com web site. The application infrastructure is well underway, so this opportunity will primarily focus on feature-development and enhancing the value of our site.

Primary responsibilities will include: building and/or integrating social networking components into our core application (forums, team-spaces, contests and other communication tools), expanding our back-end admin tools to deliver metrics for marketing, sales and the management team, and expanding our presence on other social platforms (e.g. Facebook, MySpace, etc).

Our project pipeline runs in XP-style, agile one week cycles, releasing constant improvements, features and redesigns. Developers regularly work in a pair-programming arrangement, and adhere to a strict Test-Driven Design methodology. You will join a small but growing team including two developers and report to the Chief Technology Officer and senior designer. We believe strongly in healthy working hours and balancing work and life, so working from home is a possibility, with regular weekly meetings in-office (Durham, NC).

PrepChamps is a small, well-funded company, providing an advanced high school athletic recruiting web site to help athletes get recognized and recruited by college coaches and recruiters. PrepChamps offers competitive compensation, health and 401K benefits for full-time employees, but will consider a 3-month trial contract for the right candidate.

Required skills/disciplines:
• Intermediate-advanced Ruby on Rails development
• Object-oriented design
• Adherance to Test-driven design methodologies
• Experience or high desire to work in a pair-programming environment

Desired skills and experience (nice to have):
• Git, Nginx, Merb, RSpec
• Social networking concepts
• Video streaming technologies
• Amazon Web Services (e.g. EC2, S3)
Salary:~70K or Depending on Experience
